Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some of the most frequently asked questions - if you need more details, feel free to reach out!

Personal Training

What area do you cover for the In person personal training sessions?

I cover an area 5 miles from Stotfold, which is located on the Hertfordshire/Bedfordshire boarder. If you are outside of this area I also offer sessions via video call.

When is it safe to start exercising after having a baby?

This is very individual, some people feel comfortable exercising early postpartum while others take longer to feel ready and there are many different reasons for this. But it is never too late to start! I do require you to have had your postpartum check with your doctor before beginning any fitness plan (this is usually about 6 weeks for natural births and 12 weeks for caesarean delivery).

What equipment do I need for the sessions?

For any in person training I will bring all the required equipment needed for the session. For the virtual sessions or if I am writing you a fitness program then I will work with whatever equipment you already have, that maybe dumbbells, resistance bands or access to gym equipment. In some cases I may recommend you purchase additional equipment to help with progression.

I am injured/have a medical condition can I still train with you?

This will depend on the injury or condition, please contact me via the link at the bottom of the page and we can discuss how I will be able to help you. Some medical conditions will need consent from a doctor before we can proceed.

What should I wear to my personal training session?

I would recommend wearing comfortable clothing to allow you to move easily during your session, you may get hot and sweaty so layers that are easy to remove or fabrics designed to take the sweat away from the body are ideal but not a necessity. Trainers are the recommended footwear but some exercises may require you to remove your shoes.

Massage

What type of massage is right for me?

I offer both sport and therapeutic massage, choosing the right massage often depends on your specific needs and lifestyle. Sports massage focuses on targeting muscle groups that are experiencing strain or tension, this maybe due to physical activity or trauma (such as an injury or even child birth) but sometimes this can just occur from your daily activities. Sports massage can improve flexibility, speed up recovery and enhance physical performance. Therapeutic massage is more holistic and is designed to promote overall well-being. It will relieve tension, reduce stress, and support overall health. If your goal is relaxation, managing chronic pain, or reducing everyday stress , this might be the better option for you.

Do sports massages hurt?

Some aspects of sports massage can be uncomfortable but it is not the goal of a sports massage to be painful. Areas of excessive tension, muscle adhesions and trigger points can cause discomfort during the treatment but this is short lived and relief is usually felt straight away. The pressure used during the treatment is tailored to each individual client and checked continuously throughout the treatment, if the pressure feels too much for you never be afraid to say.

Will you see me naked?

No! You will be asked to keep your briefs on and be completely covered during the treatment, only the area being treated is uncovered. During your consultation we will go over what areas will treat and any areas you do not want to be massaged can be avoided.

Do you offer pregnancy massage?

This is coming very soon! Keep watching on social media to find out when.

When can I have a massage postpartum?

This is dependant on how you are feeling. As with the personal training you will need to have had your 6 or 12 week check ( if you have had a caesarean a few adjustment to the treatment may need to be made). But most importantly it when you feel ready, which is different for everyone. Massage postpartum can have huge benefits, helping your body recover from birth, relieving tension, and reducing stress.

Where are your massage sessions held?

I offer all my massage service from Waterloo Farm Wellness in Arlesey, a beautiful premises set on the Hertfordshire/Bedfordshire boarder surrounded by picturesque farmland.
